The Essence Of Christmas

Christmas, it is that long awaited day of every year. Gifts that fill the Christmas tree, spending time with family, it's truly a wonderful thing. It's the season to be jolly, as they say, but it seems that people celebrate it for the wrong reasons sometimes. Children gather around and wait for santa clause to come and pay them a visit, but they are negligent in to the more precious guest that make christmas possible. It's the lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Christmas is the day Jesus was born into the world to save humanity from themselves. Sinful men were given hope and were forgiven for their sins all through the lord's sacrifice. Christmas means a spirit of love, a time when the love of God and the love of our fellow men should prevail over all hatred and bitterness, a time when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest the presence of God. As cliche as any of these sound, it's truthful and it's rather a shame to see children celebrate Christmas with the motive of receiving gifts from this so-called "Santa Clause" and generally disregard the importance of this day.Christmas is not all about merry making. We must also spare time to reflect on the essence of the period which is the love of God for humanity. This unquantifiable love is summed up in the popular bible verse John 3: 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him will not perish but have eternal life.”When we ponder on God’s love for us, we too are encouraged to share love with others, to embrace peace and be our brother’s keeper.

It's a time of repentance, and a time to reminisce about the time that we were saved by Jesus from our sins and lust for evil. It's not a bad thing to want a gift during this time of year, but we should never forget the best gift given to us by God and his son, love and acceptance. We make mistakes, we're human after all, and a true sin is something no one may ever be able to atone for, but we are still accepted and thus we should accept Jesus in our soul.
